Bachelor of Dental Surgery
The
curriculum allows students to learn the basic biological, social and behavioural
sciences which underlie oral disease and disorders through a problem-based
learning approach. Disciplines from the Faculty of Dentistry, along with
eight departments, including Physiology, from the Faculty of Medicine,
offer learning opportunities throughout the curriculum. However, there
are no discipline based courses, and during each semester, students learn
about topics which are multi-disciplinary and relevant to their future
practice as dentists. This approach runs throughout the five years of
study. Aspects of Physiology covered by thie course include cell physiology,
circulation, digestion, excretion, hormonal control, neurophysiology,
pain, reproduction, respiration and thermoregulation.
